CCTV in the News: “Hikvision Sales Struggles”

Hikvision Q2 / H1 2019 results are out. Hikvision says hey have faced problems both in the US and other countries because of the NDAA and potential sanctions:

There is a significant decline. Due to the impact of the US National Defense Authorization Act and the US Department of Commerce’s “physical list” sanctions, concerned that the US revenue has shown a negative growth since the second half of last year, and the company is expanding its mid- to high-end market because of some interference from non-market factors has not made much progress in many countries in a short period of time.

While in H1 2018, both domestic and overseas revenue grew ~27%, 2019 H1 domestic revenue growth feel to ~16% and overseas overall to just ~10%.

Hikvision does not break out overseas revenue by country / region so it encompasses everything ex-China. Since Hikvision said US was negative, that is known but how negative (was it -1%, -5%, -10%?) was not disclosed.

Also, in the same transcript, Hikvision admitted that the May sanctions reports had an impact, though they say they calmed down customers eventually:

Since the NYT article in May 22, some overseas customers have raised concerns, which had an impact on our overseas revenue. We calmed them down after a period of communication.
